My Chemical Romance likes talking to fans

Picture 1.png

The new My Chemical Romance site, done in Drupal 6 internally by Sara at WBR is entirely, 100% band driven. Each band member has a twitter account (aggregated at right) and they all are blogging from the road on iPhones, Blackberry’s and mac laptops.

I’d love to know how many new Twitter users registered specifically to respond to one of the guys.

Ethan, as I said in my email to you, you can consider this launch a big triumph, from what I can see. The users are happy and, well, using…the fans are thrilled to have the access and the lines of communication, and the site looks clean, interfaces seamless. Great job! Congrats to the content developers and the designer who gave the guys in the band something they can really use and have fun with.

Heard about this from @shaber on Twitter first… Started following your boys to see how they’re using it.

    So far so good.

Any plans to add an interactive area to the site? Perhaps a place for MCR’a tweeple to meet and play with each other???

we’ll see how things roll out. I think that’s the general intention.

    CLCmusic,
    It’s @srhaber. :-)

For the tech geeks wondering, this is our first artist site to launch on Drupal 6. We have nearly 100 sites on Drupal 5.

actually it was really funny because I joined twitter a day before the new site went online (:
so when I found out they were on twitter I had an even better excuse to start using it.

I love the new site tho.
    its so fan friendly :)

  6. Cool! I’m starting to use Drupal 6 to do this sort of thing as well for some local artists I know, great to see more examples of it at work.

  7. Dude, the site looks great. But, I can’t help but wonder if they should follow all their fans on Twitter to keep the conversation truely interactive.

    Thoughts anyone?

  8. My thought is…

It’s a challenge to keep up to date with fans interactively. Respect.

What could be easier is to allow the fans to get involved with their tweets, pictures and more UGC, to enrich the site.
