Steve Jobs: We Still Haven’t Figured Out The Living Room (AAPL)

I’ve said this before, but we have 5 devices or so in our living room that do the same thing more or less: Sonos, Denon receiver, Apple TV, DirectTV DVR, MacMini. They all can play music from a network drive, some play video. None are perfect. None are game changers. At the office we have XBox and PS3 that do this as well, including movie rentals. None are perfect or one-stop-shops. We buy content on the AppleTV the most at home, but use the Sonos for music, MacMini for DVD’s. The living room is going to be an interesting battle, as it requires content providers to relinquish some control, computer manufacturers to focus on integration and device manufactures to focus on simplicity. Tell me: who here has ever upgraded the firmware on their TV or receiver?
