Music + Technology + Random Nonsense from the Music Industry by Ethan Kaplan, VP Product, Live Nation

Patronage is not a new thing in art. Go get some experimental films of the 70′s, or experimental art works that included music at the same time (John Cage, even Brian Eno, etc) and take a look at the credits about who paid for the work. Everyone is so ingrained in one structure for how things should work, the broader picture both current and historical is much more interesting. And for the record, I was talking about art, not music in that post. About how its hard to value music when the value of art in other forms (visual, performance, etc) is so diminished in the nanny/teach-for-testing/tabloid state we live in. As a former art student I find that depressing.
