Info Overload Management

So here’s a situation I need help with from the GTD type people: I currently have about 30 Safari windows open, each with probably 3-12 tabs open. I don’t want to close them up, because each is something I need to either: read, deal with, bookmark, or need for reference.

So, is there good software (Shiira?) or a method of keeping your information from the web organized while you go through it?

Flock: Web clipboard for stuff you want to blog, tag favorites (locally or on del.icio.us) for actions to perform on those links.

    :)

DevonThink is AppleScript-able, which permits it to dovetail with whatever system you already have. It can capture entire websites as bookmarks or archives for offline-use. I use it as a GTD-like inbox — dumping all of those things to bookmark, reference, etc. into DevonThink (“collect”) then going through them when time permits (“process”) or referencing as-needed.

Two particular advantages are that 1) those items to bookmark don’t get lost because a tab is accidentally closed and 2) you can set up a taxonomy to give those items some meaning.

I do this same thing with my browsers, and have the same problem. Lately I’ve been posting them to del.icio.us with tags like revisit-read, revisit-do, etc.

Yep, there is just too much good stuff out there ;)

Anyway, I have (intensionally) crashed FF a couple of times in order to shut down the computer without losing my tabs. That way when I turn it back on and re-open FF it will restore my session. ;P

But this is just my how I deal with my insanity…

I use google browser sync to keep up with what I was doing along with Del.icio.us…

I hacked up a DevonThink/Delicious hybrid concoction which is pretty sweet :)

It is truly a peaceful feeling to know that other people suffer in the same way I do. :)

The Del.icio.us revisit tag is a good one, but I ‘never’ get through them, as I invariably pigeon hole again (& again). It is like ‘infinite perpetuation’… err… I think.
