Is there a point to a generalized social network? Never has been. Facebook wasn’t even one to start. Is there a point to social applications? Of course, and with Facebook you just found yourself one of many affiliate engines to lay on top of your custom one, or your Drupal one, or vBulletin, etc. People are so black and white about things, drives me crazy.
