Scripting News: 1/10/2007: I think it would have been amazing for a device that was carrier agnostic, but people are forgetting that Apple had to push for non-standard extensions to GSM on a carriers network to get the iPhone to have the Apple-factor that it needed. Random access voice-mail and three-way calling (in the fashion the device does it) are not standard. Would T-Mobile in the US have done this? Maybe, maybe not. Would Apple bet the farm of their device on whether a network would update to keep pace with their device? No.
