[...] The most noticeable improvement is that the player no longer launches in a pop-up window. Instead, the video stays where it’s supposed to - embedded in the page itself. This player can also be resized to fill most of the page, and the transition between the two sizes is extremely smooth. The layout here is similar to YouTube, with related videos listed to the right of the player and comments below. However, the videos are centered on the page, which makes this look far less like a YouTube clone. The “Upload” button is also far more prominent, which should encourage more user participation. The homepage is dominated by a neat, scrollable box called “iFilms Picks”, with the most recent and most popular clips below. I’m not sure whether this is the right order, but then again, YouTube also puts featured content before the user-filtered stuff. (Also note that editors are less easy to game - someone who read my original post made this one of the top videos on YouTube today). Other nice additions include a Top 100, channels and tagging.
