Techdirt: How Newspapers Can Make Their Data More Useful: Uncovering The Semantic Newspaper: While I think this is spot on, I’d rather see less buzzwords applied to newspapers, not more. Newspapers are still caught up in their own hubris, without realizing that their true value is as a content delivery SYSTEM and production mechanism rather than product. Semantic organization is good, yes. Self Organized Map organization based on semantic intelligence would be much better. Could you imagine if the entire pool of text from a newspaper was stuck in a SOM based on Vector Space algorithms? I shudder to think.
